Our church was built in 1934. The school was built in 1953, and an addition was added in 1964. The convent was built in 1956. We have seen many changes to these buildings throughout the years and have put a lot of sweat and tears into their upkeep.  But just like everything in this life, time takes its toll.  We don't like to talk about the parts of ourselves that aren't working as well as they once did. But you never know what graces you may receive if you do.  We hope that by presenting the aging issues our buildings face, we may, in turn, be graced by your generosity. The following list does not cover every area that needs repair or improvement; it covers only those reviewed by our Building and Grounds Committee in 2024 and 2025 that have not been funded.

The following projects have been discussed, designed, and priced in the years 2024 and 2025 (They are in no particular order):

  • We will apply for a security grant when available. To prepare for the grant (upwards of approximately $600,000.00 for the three buildings on our property), the Building & Grounds Committee met with contractors to provide prices for the following:
    • New doors.
    • New electronic entry at the doors.
    • Updated security system.
    • Updated camera system.
    • Backup generator systems.
    • New windows.

Many of the above will need to be done regardless of whether we receive a grant.

  • Festival garage additions.
  • Replace the 5 AC units and two furnaces in the rectory, rectory office, and DeSimone Hall.
  • Boiler system replacement or repairs.
    • $450,000.00 to $600,000.00 Boiler system replacement
    • Repairs totaling $100,000.00 to $125,000.00

One set of our school boilers is 25+ years old. We are trying to keep up with the needed repairs to delay the need to replace them. In 2024, half of the needed repairs were completed, but more remain to be done.

  • Repairs and recoating of the South & North elevations of the church.
  • Repairs and recoating of the church railings in front.
  • Repairs and recoating of the columns at the bell tower.
  • Cleaning and recoating of the concrete benches and planters.  A generous donation was made by a parishioner to cover this expense! Thank-you!

It was necessary to repair and recoat the East elevation and part of the South elevation in the summer of 2024. Still, we were unable to include the above repairs due to a lack of available financial resources. It is recommended that our church facade be repaired and patched every three years, but our operating budget does not allow for this maintenance.  Before 2024, the last time the facade was repaired and patched was 2013.

  • Painting of the wood around windows and doors at the rectory.
  • Rectory roof, soffit, gutters, and downspouts.
  • Sanctuary Renovations:
    • Asbestos tile floor abatement.
    • New altar.
    • New flooring.
    • New railing.
    • New ambo.
    • New lighting.

Much of the Sanctuary Renovations will be done using restricted donations.

  • Lintel repairs on the original school.

In 2022 we were quoted $5,000 a window for lintel repairs.

  • Asbestos floor tile abatement and new flooring.
    • Holy name room.
    • Coach’s room.
    • Band room.
    • Gym storage room.
    • Teacher’s lounge.
  • New carpet in the choir loft. (Project slated to begin June of 2026)
  • New sign project as a tribute to the sisters who have taught at Holy Rosary.
  • School floor refinishing.
  • Rectory kitchen remodel.
  • Replace curtains and blinds in the Rectory.
  • Gym kitchen range hood exhaust fan replacement. (Completed spring 2026)
  • Limestone damage repair – SE corner of school.
  • Repair the stone joints at the Pieta.
  • Parking lot repairs or replacement.
  • Rectory flooring repairs or replacement.
  • Walk-in cooler replacement or walk-in cooler compressor and condenser replacement. (Completed spring 2026)
  • Exhaust fan replacement for the gym kitchen. (Completed spring 2026)

Our Building & Grounds Committee continually reviews each project's scope and necessity as well as addresses new projects. As parameters change, recommendations are made to our Finance Committee, which then evaluates the best way to fund each project.  As stewards of your gifts, both committees make great efforts to use those gifts wisely.
